YouTube Roundup: Politics
All of the YouTube videos in this roundup deal with politics.
First up, a sequel to "Baracky", the dare I say fabulously entertaining video spoof of "Rocky" that debuted prior to Baracky getting his ass kicked in Pennsylvania. "The Empire Strikes Barack," doesn't have a state-specific link like "Baracky," but it's just as entertaining.
Ricky Gervais, the star of the British version of "The Office" discusses his favorite political pamphlet, which deals with alternatives to sodomy.
Barack Obama received weeks of negative press due to the opinions of his former pastor, but its fascinating how conservatives get a free pass when the religious nut jobs who they seek support from say things as crazy or crazier. For instance, McCain supporter John Haggee says that Roman Catholics are the whore of babylon and that hurricane Katrina was caused by the gay southern decadence parade. Add this to the ever growing list of McCain's YouTube gaffes (confusing Shiites and Sunnis, not knowing whether contraceptives prevent the spread of HIV, accidentally admitting that we invaded Iraq for their Oil, etc.,) and it boggles the mind to think that democrats will find away to lose yet another election.
Tom Hanks wants Barack Obama to be president. I do as well, but this video strikes me as weird because Tom Hanks has never endorsed a presidential candidate, and I'm curious why he would start now. I understand how he wants to use his fame constructively, but if so why didn't he put more time into the presentation? It seems rushed and a little angry, as though he didn't really want to be involved. Maybe, like so many people watching this race he's just sick of watching the Clinton slime machine and decided to quickly throw this together.
I enjoy watching Pat Connell. He eviscerates his targets with such charm and skill. Here he talks about the the effect of religion in politics.
