Saturday: TNG presents The Mousetrap -- Pride Edition

So, you've seen our previous party announcement and flyer for this Saturday's event, and you are still a bit confused. A pride party at a straight club? What is this all about? Well, I'll try to clear up your confusion.

First off, the Black Cat isn't a club, it's a venue. As such, it hosts a wide variety of events, from rock shows to womyn's spoken word events. Frequently, queer artists play at the "cat", too. Many a new gay even makes the Black Cat's bar their regular hangout.

Secondly, the Mousetrap (the dance night we are infiltrating) is hardly a straight party. We routinely see huge circles of queer ladies dancing their asses off to Belle & Sebastian's The Boy With The Arab Strap or The Clash's Lost in the Supermarket. It's not strange to witness multiple pairs of gay boys making out on the dance floor while (The London) Suede's Trash provides an appropriate soundtrack. Heck, at a recent Mousetrap I even saw a gay-boy conga line of crotch/ass grinding and simulated butt sex at least 5 bodies long. Even I was shocked!

So, if the Black Cat is a queer friendly space, and the Mousetrap a queer-friendly event, what is going to be so different about this pride edition of Mousetrap?

This event has a few extra things going for it:

• It's on the Saturday of Pride Weekend, just hours after the parade.
• TNG's own Michael and Zack will have a guest DJ sets where we'll play great songs that are loved by homos or written/performed by queer artists.
• We'll be taking your requests.
  
• You can go out and celebrate Pride at a dance party that doesn't rely on techno/house/dance music.
• We're going to pack the place with homos.
